Hybrid Logistics®/General Transportation Services was started in 1990 by Richard Fink, Bob Thompson and Ed Kropp. We started the company with some very simple principles based on our experiences working in Finance, Operations and Sales in the LTL, Truckload and Brokerage businesses. Customers told us they “only used a broker when they had to” and “they just aren’t reliable”…Carriers told us they “only used a broker when they had to” and “the most important thing in dealing with a Broker is getting paid”. These could be called some of the “Founding Intentions” of our company. We definitely looked at them as challenges to be surmounted, OPPORTUNITY to build a “home” for ourselves and the people we get to work with every day, and a chance to change the paradigm and stereotypes of how 3PLs are viewed.
Hybrid Logistics® was formed to provide complete logistics management (carrier selection, tender, dispatch, load management, POD, billing, and metrics) at the specific request of a long-term customer. The Hybrid Logistics® model is a collaborative process between all stakeholders within the supply chain and Hybrid. Rather than conform to our system, we assemble services to compliment your business objectives.
In the 25 years we have been in business we have actively pursued becoming true “partners” with both our customers and the carriers we are fortunate enough to get to work with each day. We know how important each one is to our success and growth.
In 2016, Hybrid joined the CAI International family of companies, which enabled additional services of Intermodal and International to their already thriving Truckload Freight services. CAI is a leading freight container leasing and management company headquartered in San Francisco, CA. We shed our old name, General Transportation Services, and kept Hybrid that truly encompassed the company mentality of providing a blend of services to best serve our customers. One of the original owners, Bob Thompson, remained as President, and Hybrid continues to thrive in this industry through planned, sustainable growth, and responsible business practices with customers and vendors. We’re that perfect size of company to be large enough to serve your needs, but small enough to care about you!
